CYMA:
Cyma traces its early origins from a small watch company founded by the brothers, Joseph and Theodre Schwob, of Schwob Frères and Co. in 1862. The Schwob brothers named the company Cyma the French word for summit. It was not until 1892 when the brothers partnered with Frederic Henri Sandoz (Does the name sounds familiar?), the owner of the watch wholesale company, Henri Sandoz & Cie, that the business expanded. Under Sandoz's leadership, the company became the Cyma Watch Company and built the famous Cyma factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in the Jura Mountains. La Chaux-de-Fonds is near Le Locle (Yes, this is where the famous brand Tissot Le Locle gots its name). Both towns were the center of the Swiss watchmaking industry in the 19th century.

EDOX:
Edox’s history began in 1883 with a love story.  An exceptionally gifted watchmaker in Granges, Christian Rüfli-Flury, decided to give his beloved wife, Eva-Maria, a pocket watch that he had designed himself for her 25th birthday. Touched and impressed by the beauty of her gift, Eva-Maria then persuaded her husband to found his own watchmaking company in 1884. Christian then named the company “Edox”. The name Edox means “hour” in ancient Greek, and the hourglass logo has adorned all Edox watches ever since.

SOLVIL ET TITUS
Paul Ditisheim (1868-1945), a well-known watchmaker and inventor, was an extremely prominent figure in the Swiss watch industry of his time. In 1887, he named one of the initial models he created, Titus, and thus the brand Solvil et Titus was born. Solvil, an abbreviation of Sonvilier, is the Jura village in which a factory for making watch components stood and Titus was a highly talented and skilled Roman Emperor of the first century. Ditisheim was immensely interested in researching and manufacturing chronometers, and was extremely successful at it, demonstrated by the fact that his products hold records for precision as deemed by the prestigious international trials carried out by the Royal Observatories of Kew-Teddington and Neuchâtel. In 1930, Ditisheim handed Solvil et Titus over to Paul-B. Vogel. Between 1950 and 1970, the watch market developed rapidly throughout the world. In 1963, the Société des Garde-Temps S.A (SGT) was created, and Solvil et Titus became one of the members of this important group.
